Every July 4th, the Zelienople-Harmony area Rotary club kicks off a Community Day celebration with a parade, followed by competitions, entertainment and food at the community park, and capped with spectacular fireworks at dusk. Harmony also stages its own Community Day in mid-June.
This unique three-day event held in mid-July historically attracts over 40,000 visitors. It includes arts, crafts, food and entertainment for the entire family such as the annual “Frog-Jumping Contest.” Don’t worry… if you don’t own a frog, you can rent one for the day! You won’t want to miss the “All Horse Parade” which typically includes as many as 50 participants, and features only horses and horse-drawn vehicles. Musical and dance ensembles perform at several locations throughout the community during this event where ethnic foods, contests, games, competitions and tie-in promotions with area merchants combine with booths and events sponsored by local charitable and service organizations.
Held in October, this event features highly education and interactive “mountain-man” and historic military encampments and also includes horse-drawn wagon rides, petting zoos and antique car displays. Great food, fresh apple cider, breads and candies are always featured along with pumpkins, apples and other fall treats. Join us for all of the fun including musical entertainment, a chili cook-off and antique displays.
Sponsored by the local Lions Club, judges representing community organizations award prizes for floats and costumes in this spooky, spectacular event!
In mid-November, the Harmony Museum kicks off the Christmas shopping season with a German-style market followed by the Zelienople holiday parade featuring Santa’s arrival. Santa then takes up residence at his own house at the Main Street Park and stays until he’s called away to deliver presents on Christmas Eve. Area merchants of both communities welcome shoppers with Holiday specials and inviting merchandise.
The Harmony Summer Concert series is an opportunity to spend an evening under the stars at four very popular musical performances. The events are free and feature music ranging from country-western and top forty to groups like the local “Pop Rock”, sure to please our area youth!
